Some new words. Should we record this?
Pool shivers with breeeze, lapping like thirsty shore dogs
sniffing at my soul.
Short branches skywards, dead trees don’t sway much
dead trees like roads maps.
Another world waits, oil lamp across the ripples
water defends us.
Crushed leaves under foot, a nest for lapwings
destroy, then reuse.
The Towers are far enough not to touch them
protected by jewels.
Dragonfly - a warrior in armour
colour like a child’s craft project
kinosaur.
Sitting so still, could be a toy
barely noticeable wings, like blank net curtains.
Then the warrior fights, another dragonfly comes
he attacks looking for war.
Wounded, he lands on campfire stones
hard but warm where the sun has warmed a circle
no fire.
Ghosts of people sitting in the grass as the sun sets
the fireball engulfs them
then just the embers light theirs faces as they talk and hide
and wait.
Mexican wave of grass, the rocks are an anchor holding them down
until the signal is given.
Seaweed, childhood memories of holidays; more innocent days
no response.
lapping water like lapping bears, Johnson passes full of Cargo
diamonds shiver on the water.
Cargo ship bigger than Johnson going to far off places.
If I could sail past diamonds and reach the ship
I could escape the campfire rocks and the argumentative dragonfly.
But the boat don’t stop
And I can’t swim through diamonds.
The containers are free.
I am contained by sea.
And the boat has gone, another chance of escape over.
I shuffle back to the campfire ghosts, the dragonfly army laughing at me.
